Hiatus

This blog will be on a hiatus. In other words, hibernate, for an unknown amount of time due to unforseen cinrcumstances.

I'm completely devastated today... I'll leave this post with something I wanna say to someone.

Who is the one who is there for you when you have relationship problems last time?
Who is the one who accompanied you when you are bored?
Who is the listener to your complains?
Who is the one who stayed on your side and give advices during your hard times?
Who is the one you called 'kor kor'?
I never forget what you did for me.
You are my loyal friend, my perfect listener.
My 'mei mei'...
I'm sorry for hurting you seven months ago.
Please think about it...

To my readers,
I'm sure that the someone the above words is aimed for won't see this.
But don't leave comments asking me questions of what happened.
Comments to show support will be appreciated.
I'm completely devastated...

Life sucks!
My luck sucks!
I don't blame that someone for putting me in misery.
I blame GOD for giving me such fate!

Big game player?

It's 2:30am and I'm blogging here. Just finished watching 3 football matches in a row. Phew! It's been a while since I did that.

This morning, or should I say yesterday morning (Saturday morning), I went to play football at Acmar field. Planned to go Kwang Hua but the guard won't even let current students in, let alone former students. Heard that the principal don't want too much of co-curiculum for his students wor... -_-"

This is the first time in almost 2 months that I've played football on a real field. Since that day I said wanna take a break from football, I've only played futsal, and once in a while played 'mini-football' on the basketball court opposite my house. Really long time don't have that 'grassy' feeling under my legs already. lol

One thing, the condition of the Acmar field sucks! The side of the field near to the Acmar Kindergarden is okay, but the other side nearer to the road is almost not a football field. Aiks. I surveyed that part before the game and I knew I won't step onto that side of the pitch.

For the first half, we attacked towards the better side of the field. So yeah! I've only attacked and never defend at all for the first half. Our opponents, from what I heard, are one of the best set of players in Form 4 this year. We led 5-0 after the first half... Not quite sure of that, maybe they just had an off day, or maybe they are attacking on the bad side of the field. But really, we exploited some of their weaknesses.

I didn't play the second half, coz its kinda hot already, and I started to feel a bit of 'lagness'. Long time no play football, sure will lag a bit lar, get tired fast. So it's their turn to attack on the good side of the field while we get the opposite. The game ended 9-2...

Okay, pro people won't get so many goals in football matches but that's what we are, always lots of goals.

I scored a goal! A fluke goal by the way, but it's still a goal! I wanted to cross the ball. None of my teammates gets to it. I heard their defenders told their goalie to let go of the ball for a goal kick. So everyone just stood there and look at the ball. But wait... It didn't go out. It went in! Goal!!! I don't how to react at first. Kinda don't believe that their goalkeeper just let my poor cross went into the goal.

Haha! Once again I scored in a big match. Hmm... I not sure lar, but I find my record in big matches (where there are 2 teams playing a 'competitive' match with first half and second half) pretty good. When I just play in those 'cincai-cincai' matches, I don't always score goals. But when it comes to big matches, I will play better, sometimes even score goals! Maybe it's the motivation, but surely there's quite a lot of luck in there too. xD

Then again, I played significantly less football these days. Those 'cincai-cincai' matches doesn't appeal me anymore. Not 'hang price', just lazy to play. I will only play in those odd 'big' matches that occur once in a while. Looking forward to challenge today's opponents again.

Hehe... I've changed from that regular football player, to the occasional football player. No longer a football fanatic or football crazy. That's my image to some over the past few years. Haiz... Just looking to shred of that tag. I am not a football crazy! :)

2011

Yeah! I mean 2011. Please don't thought that I wanted to mean '2012' the movie and that I've mis-typed my title. But why 2011???

Flip the papers today (or for some, you don't even need to flip coz it's on the first page), you will see something like this: Science and Maths in BM from 2011 onwards. In July this year, the Education Ministry said this plan will be from 2012 onwards. Now it's carried forward for a year. Quite a significant amount of people disagreed about this plan at first place. Carried forward a year? Oh well...

I decided to interview a person who is one of the many people who disagreed with this plan in order to get an in-depth view of this issue. And the person is......

ME!

Oh... Not again!!! (For those who don't know what I mean by 'not again', please check back my final post in September)

Q: You disagree with teaching Science and Maths in BM?
A: Erm... There's always good and bad in everything... And I think...

Q: One word, yes or no?
A: Please allow me to finish my sentence lar...

Q: I said, in one word, yes or no?
A: Okay... Yes. I disagree.

Q: That's 4 words.
A: Oh whatever...

Q: Why disagree?
A: First of all, English is an international language. Learning Science and Maths in English will benefit students in the long run. Especially for those ambitious ones, if they work overseas, of course must speak English lar! Imagine in a overseas conference, a Malaysian scientist goes on stage and says 'Tabung Uji'. Oh my god, how do you expect everyone to understand that? Of course must say 'Test Tube'. Right? Science and Maths in English was introduced with the point of improving the standard of English. And now they say they will revert back to Science and Maths in BM and will continue to improve the standard of English? Ain't that like slapping own face?

Q: But results in the past few years has shown that the standard of English has not improved, and in fact students' performance in Science and Maths has dropped.
A: That, I think, has got something to do with the teachers. Teachers need time to adjust to teaching these 2 subjects in English. And it takes time. They started teaching these 2 subjects in English in 2003, and so happened that I went into form 1 in 2003, so I'm in the first batch of students under this plan. Honestly, I can see that some teachers are still not up to the standard of teaching these 2 subjects in English yet. Just when teachers might be starting to get used to this plan, the Education Ministry has decided to revert back to the old formula again.

Q: It is also known that the cost of teaching Science and Maths in English over the years doesn't produce equivalent results in students' performances. That's also a reason why the plan is reverted.
A: But now that the plan is reverted. Ain't that requires a high cost as well? Textbooks has to be re-written, teachers need to be retrained. And try to think from a teacher's perspective. Aren't they gonna feel that its a waste for them for training to teach in English? For some who just started teacher training in the past few years, they might have to throw away what they have learnt in English and start all over again in BM. And let's not forget the time and cost of re-training.

Q: Bahasa Malaysia is our official language. Are you forgetting that?
A: I didn't say it should be neglected. We have Sejarah and Geografi in BM. That is reasonable as in those 2 subjects, basically we learn about our own country. But for Science and Maths, it's an international knowledge.

Q: At the start of the interview, you said something about there's good and bad in everything... Does that mean you actually feel that this new plan has it's good point as well? Can you explain that?
A: Hah! Now you want me to explain!

Q: Well then just do so! Okay... My bad...
A: The thing I find good about this plan is that Science and Maths in primary schools will be fully taught in mother language. Primary students will now need not learn these 2 subjects in 2 languages. This is something I would agree.

Q: So can you tell me, in your mind, what is the perfect plan for teaching these 2 subjects?
A: Ever since the first day, my opinion is that Science and Maths being teached in the mother language in primary schools, and English in secondary schools. This would enable students to have a basic about these subjects in their familiar language, and then build on from there with an international language.

Q: In other words, are you saying that you have been studying in your so called 'perfect formula'?
A: Absolutely, I studied these 2 subjects in my mother tongue for primary school, and then in English in secondary school. And I'm proud of it, as I will now go into the history books of Malaysia for being 1 of only 10 batches of students to ever being in this 'perfect formula'! Haha! ^^

Q: ......

My Kwang Hua Journey (Part 2)

Its time to rewind again. My high school memories. Coming next in my personal best memories, it has got to be FOOTBALL!!!

4th: GOOOAAALLL!!!

The year was 2005, when I was in form3, we held a football tournament between classes, and my class happens to be the organizer for that year's event.

It was my class' first match, I'm playing on the left-wing, kind of forgotten what happened, but I know it was chaotic in front of our opponent's goal, so many players in there, I was there, and I saw my team-mate had a shot, and I saw their goalkeeper punched the ball away, away to where??? Towards me!!! The goal was just around 2 meters away from me, without second thoughts, more like a reflex action, I put out my left leg, kicked the ball, and it went into the net... well, no nets, just a goal-frame. Its the first goal of the match.

It turns out to be our last as well. We went on and lose the match 2-1. But we went on and on in the tournament, all the way until the final, and we got beaten in the final. And me, I got a runner-up's trophy. Here's the picture of the trophy...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
Err... No need lar... Just a small piece of silver-coloured plastic trophy anyway.

Why is the goal so memorable for me? Well... I've played football since primary 6, I scored goals too. But up until then, I have never participated in competitions of any form. Yeah alright, this is just a very small form3 inter-class competition. Nevertheless, its still my first competition! Furthermore, I scored the first goal in my first ever competitive match! Woohoo. ^^

Coming soon: My 3rd favourite moment of my high school life.

Weekend of Mine

Lots of things to blog about this weekend. Can't choose which 1 to blog about, so I blog it all! It will take me hours to write if I decided to write it all in detail, so below are things that I feel blog-worthy over my weekend, compiled, compressed, and straight to the point. And it shows multiple sides of my life!

Chapter 1: Movie-goer

Yesterday I went to BBK Jusco to watch 'Sorority Row'. Hot girls in a thriller story, it's movie at its best! Haha.

From usual people point of view: The killer must be crazy. Such a good student, destroyed his future by killing so many people cruely for his girlfriend who didn't even tell him to do so.

From my point of view: Although he is cruel for killing so many people, putting his seemingly bright future on the line, but think about it, he did it because he loved his girlfriend a lot and don't want anybody other than the 2 of them to know her dark secret. Okay, I'm not saying guys must murder people to show his love for his girlfriend. Lolz. But to girls, think about it, that's how much a guy can love a girl. (I'm saying this for all the guys out there!!!)

Chapter 2: Politcal Awareness

Do you think that MCA is making chinese angry? (try figuring out something in the question.) Ooops... But finally, the power struggle between Ong and Chua has come to an end, or at least, that's my hope.

Based on yesterday's voting results, both of them are to leave their respective posts. Giving a chance for a new leadership. Both of them are capable, both of them are worthy of their previous posts, it's a waste that both of them had to leave, but it's also a fact that both of them can't work together anymore, and if either 1 were to stay, there will be a group of party members who will be against him.

And so the best, although harsh, solution for this whole problem, is for both of them to step down. This is to prevent further cracks in the party.

Soon a new leader will be decided. Not sure how it will be decided. Not sure who will be the leader. But for sure the foremost important job for this new leader will be to unite the party, and earn back the Chinese's support for MCA.

Chapter 3: Sportsman

This morning I went to a 6km run organised by Centro Mall. My first, and perhaps, only official run this year.

Last month we had a mini-run as well, along the same route. I used that as a benchmark for today. Last time around, I finished it in 40 minutes. I've set my target to finish in 30 minutes this time.

Tough one... Anyway, did I achieve my target......?

The answer is...

Sadly, no. Still some way off. My time today is 38 minutes. Got improvement though. So nvm lar... Run for fun only mar. Some more got a certificate, not bad already lar... Hehe.

Just train 2 times over the past week, yet already I managed to slash my time by 2 minutes. What if I train regularly??? Man I got potential!!! xD

But no matter how, it's still no match for the elite runners. In fact, nowhere near them. The champion for my open category finished the race in merely 17 minutes! Less than half of my time. Soon after, got lucky draw. Okay, end of story for this. You know what I mean...

Chapter 4: Food-aholic

Who says skinny people don't like to eat? I enjoy food and I eat a lot of them! But I only enjoy food that I enjoy. Man what am I saying?

Okay... I don't enjoy pork. Fact or fiction? Fact! Not only me, my parents too doesn't enjoy too much of pork. Bah Kut Teh... Usually we eat it without pork. (Shoot me if you want here) Today, we ate it with pork. More importantly, I ate pork, lots of them!!!

Maybe some might still be unimpressed. Cheh! I'm Chinese mar, some more I'm from Klang, the origin of Bah Kut Teh, eat Bak Kut Teh very suprising meh?

Here's something special. This Bak Kut Teh is called 'String-tied Bah Kut Teh' (宝香绑线肉骨茶). Got strings 1 ler... clap clap*

The location is inside Centro Mall. Yeah, me and my dad went back home after the run and then go back there again. The boss turns out to be my mom's cousin brother. Its special because of the 'strings'. What are the strings for? I'm not sure. I didn't get to see the strings coz they cut it before serving. Maybe because today there's too many customers, so they too busy to cut it after serving onto our table. But my dad saw the 'strings' before. Lolz.

Well... I judge Bah Kut Teh by its soup. And I can say this is good! If not tasty then won't open another few more shops lar... (There's one in Berkeley, and another in Puchong I think...)

Worth a try! But got service charge ya!!! Because got air-cond mar, you know...

Freedom

Freedom!!!

I'm done with my one and only mid-term paper. Well... basically it seems like freedom for me everyday coz I never ever get tensed up before even the major final exams, let alone a mid-term paper. I'm always on relax mode. Doing last minute studying... Hey I don't call myself 'Last Minute King' for nothing ok? Not trying to brag here lar... But really, its not that I don't wanna get serious, the fact is that I have an inability to get serious! You ask me to get all bumped up for an exam, reading this... memorizing that... I can't do it. Some say I very 'geng' because everytime I don't seem to study much but yet I still pass all my subjects, but I see that as to why I merely passed my exams everytime and not achieving better. Anyway... Pass is good enough for me. The higher the hopes, the bigger the chance for an upset. :)

Time to chill...

And for once I've changed the song on my playlist. Err... 'Diary of Jane' seems a bit too hard for my mood now. Lolz. So I share my mood with a song in which the chorus is the easiest chorus to get stuck in ones head. xD

'Shawty's like a melody in my head
that I can't keep out
got me singing like
na na na na everyday
it's like my iPod's stuck replay, replay-ay-ay-ay......'

Formula One Merry-Go-Round

Alright! The so-called 'worst-kept secret' of Formula One is not a secret anymore. My favourite F1 driver Fernando Alonso is going to Ferrari next year. This sparked the start of a driver 'merry-go-round' among the F1 teams for next season.

Today, the man to replace Alonso at Renault has also been revealed. He's Robert Kubica, who was forced to look for a new team after his current team, BMW, decided to pull out of F1 after this season.

Fernando Alonso

Robert Kubica

And those are two confirmed moves to date. But all the signs point to Ferarri's Kimi Raikkonen is moving to McLaren to partner Lewis Hamilton.

Wow! If that turns out to be true, then next year will surely be a blockbuster year for F1. We will have the top 4 drivers (in terms of driving skills) driving for the top 2 teams! The 4 drivers I mean here are Alonso (Ferarri), Fillipe Massa (Ferarri), Hamilton (McLaren), and Raikkonen (McLaren). F1's biggest rivals Alonso and Hamilton can once again have a 'bloody' fight for the driver's championship. Haha! Also let's not forget the 2 drivers that has turned F1 around this season: Jenson Button (Brawn GP) and Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull Racing). For sure they will also be in the hunt for the driver's championship.

Jenson Button

Don't forget, next year we will also have our own Malaysian team in F1, called Lotus 1Malaysia F1 Team. Okay... No matter how many tax-payers out there grumbling about the government burning their money in this sport, I'm fully behind the government's decision to join this sport. Simply because I will finally have a team to cheer for next season! Hehe... Perhaps I'm saying this because I don't have to pay any tax right now. But hey... who cares? Since I ain't paying any tax, so just enjoy watching a Malaysian team in F1 lar! From the viewpoint of an F1 fan, this is just gonna be exciting. >.<

Haha! Although this season hasn't ended, I'm already looking forward to next season.

Anyway, here are some of my blind predictions for next season's F1:

~ Alonso to pip his deadly rival Hamilton to the world title.

~ Raikkonen once again had a bad year and loses his passion for F1, then walk away from the sport to join rally racing

~ Lotus 1MF1 to finish ahead of other 3 new teams.

~ Fairuz Fauzy to drive for Lotus 1MF1.

~ And his partner, one of the three drivers below:

Alex Wurz

Christian Klien

Anthony Davidson

My Kwang Hua Journey (Part 1)

Hello! This is the first of a series of posts about my secondary school (SMJK Kwang Hua) life. Fisrt of all, why am I doing this? Haha. Because this coming 31st of October, I would have graduated from secondary school for a full 2 years! It just seems like I graduated yesterday by the way. Time flies... No no, time teleports, coz it happened in a blink of an eye. xD

No doubts about it, looking back, I had lots of memories in Kwang Hua, good ones and bad ones, everybody does.

I took time out to think about it, and share with you guys here, my top five memories of my 5-year journey in Kwang Hua.

5th: Skipping My Add Maths Exam.

Throughout the final 2 years of secondary school, the subject 'Add Maths' has been my worst nightmare. Studying in Science class, I had no interest in that subject whatsoever. During Add Maths lesson, I don't listen to what the teacher teaches, neither do I ever did his homework. And also, my Add Maths teacher happened to be my form teacher. (Paiseh ya, Mr. Lim. Hehe.)

I tried to catch up with the subject, once, and it was totally against my will. But somehow in the end, my instinct ruled. I can't understand this subject, and I told myself: 'Oh come on! This is not my subject. It never was, it never will be.'

I quit Add Maths. I decided to drop that subject for SPM.

In form 4, I sat for the mid-year and year-end exams as I can't drop the subject at that time. My marks for that two exams are 2% and 1% respectively. Don't get shocked here, the percentages are really out of 100%. Phew! Luckily I don't have to live that nightmare all over again in form 5, coz I managed to drop the subject.

One memorable thing for me that happened during this whole 'Add Maths Nightmare' was that I skipped an Add Maths exam while I was in form 4! I remember that day, there's a government trial exam for the subject. The day before, me and one of my buddy, Sern Tat, had planned to skip that exam. Early in the morning, I reached school before him. I waited for him at the pondok, and then we sneaked out! Hehe. We went for breakfast at a nearby mamak, changed our clothes, then go to a cyber cafe, then walked to Klang Parade to kill some time. We even planned our route carefully to avoid meeting some 'obstacles'. Lolz!

Both of us did a silly thing. Guess what, we changed back our clothes in an open garden before we went back to school! Anyway, it's an empty garden and basically no one saw us changing.

After that, when school dismissal time is up, we walked back to school. My transport came to pick me as if I just had another day in school! Shhh... xD

By the way, I'm a good boy. This is one of just very very very few times that I've ponteng sekolah, and my only time ponteng exam. I know I'm wrong, but...... okay... >.<

Haha! That's my number five secondary school memory. There's more to come and more posts to follow! ^^

(Note to my buddy Sern Tat: If you see this, sorry fo mentioning your name up there. lol Don't mind rite? Hehe. Nice experience mar, share share lar.)

Happy Mooncake Festival!

Happy mooncake festival, or lantern festival, or whatever you call it... By the way, it should be Mid-Autumn festival. -_-"

Okay... Now I gonna switch to 'emo' mode...

Traditional mooncakes, lanterns, candles... Gone are those days.

Nowadays,

Traditional 'lotus-paste' mooncakes have been slowly replace by fancy variety flavoured mooncakes.

Sitting in the house compound under the full moonlight drinking tea has been replaced by BBQ parties drinking colas.

And the lanterns... and candles... I've seen them... I've played them... When I was young...

From paper lanterns, to plastic lanterns, then battery-operated lanterns, and now...

No lanterns...

From children holding lanterns in their house compound during lantern festival last time, to holding play-station consoles in their room during lantern festival these days, just like any other day.

Where is the traditional value of Lantern/Mooncake/Mid-Autumn festival these days???

FAQs

Since I started blogging, I blogged about myself, I blogged about my life, I blogged about sports, about music, about politics...

But today, I'm gonna blog about... MY BLOG!

Below are some 'Frequently Asked Questions' (FAQs) about my blog. Okay okay... not that frequent lar... No one asked me also. I created these questions lar... O_O

Q: Why your blog so boring wan...? No pictures, videos... Mostly words... Boring lar...
A: I express myself better in words. Perhaps some say a picture speaks a thousand words. But if I keep showing pictures only, how am I gonna express my inner feelings and thoughts? This is the 'Diary of Jen', not 'Photo Album of Jen', I write about my feelings and thoughts here.

Q: Okay, got it. But your writing style seems a bit too formal, like writing an essay or something. Full with long descriptions. Why?
A: That's my style. When I wanna tell people something, I wanna tell it clearly. I want readers to fully understand what I wanna express.

Q: But sometimes your descriptions seems to use lots of bombastic words. Or at least, words that are much deeper than typical blogging language. Don't you feel scared that some people might not like your style?
A: If I write according to what people wanna read, that means I'm blogging for others. I blog for myself. So I do it my way. Of course I hope people enjoy reading my blog. But if they don't, too bad. I stick to my style.

Q: So using bombastic words is your style, means you actually write to impress? Not write to express?
A: A bit of both. In order to really express myself, sometimes I just had to write impressively. Take for example, 'big' and 'enormous' actually says the same thing. We all know that. But I bet everyone will still have a sub-concious feeling that 'enormous' is a little bigger than 'big'. Rite?

Q: Why you cut your hair short?
A: That's my style. I like my hair short. Wait a minute... Why am I even answering this? You should be askin questions bout my blog!

Q: Okay okay. You seem to have a lot of free time hor? So often see you got new posts.
A: No. I don't blog during your so-called 'free time'. Perhaps most people will kind of like: 'Hey, ntg 2 do now. So free. Okay lar, let me post something on my blog.' I don't do that. Blogging is part of my routine. Just like going to class, sleep, eat and so on... Minus those time, including my blogging time, only then the extra time will be my 'free time'. I even self-set a limit of minimum 12 posts per month. (You can check last month's and this month's number of posts. Today is last day of this month and you are reading my 12th post this month. Hahax.)

Q: So you like to blog huh?
A: I like to express myself. I don't get to let people know my feelings all the time. So the best way to express myself is blogging. By the way, I like writing too.

Q: Hmm... why don't you wanna try having a longer hairstyle?
A: Once again. I said I have my style, and my style is short hair! Questions about my blog please...

Q: Overall what do you think about your blog? Will people like it?
A: Seriously I think people will have contrasting feelings about my blog. Those who like it, will enjoy very much. They might feel my style is unique, humour, creative (just like this post, who else other than me will blog in a question and answer way? lolx). Those who don't like my blog, might feel its boring, lame, and HATE IT! Ooops.

Q: So its all about your style huh? You don't like listening other's advices?
A: Yes and no. First of all, I am a man of my own. The way I blog, the way I talk, the way I dress... All according to my way. Anyway I do like comments and advices about a change. But it must not drift too far away from my style.

Q: Don't you think a longer hairstyle will look good on you? Like those Taiwan or Hong Kong stars...
A: Alright! I had enough of this! I'll sign off here! There's something wrong with you! What the hell?!

Q: ...............

(The happenings above are completely fictional. The reason of this post is just to answer some possible questions that my blog readers might ask. I just imagined and answered those questions myself. It's just for laughs. ^^ )

Haircut

I miss my short hair! Yeah u heard it rite... I miss my short hair.

I know most people would say 'I miss my long hair' but I'm just this weird.

Today, I cut my hair. It's my first haircut in almost 3 months. Why so long no cut hair? Coz of 'peer pressure'. Haha. I never tried keeping long hair before. My hair is always short. But I always hear voices. Voices asking me why don't I try keeping longer hair. They are voices from my friends. I've always preferred short hair. Not botak of coz, but short hair, much shorter than 'typical Asian guys' or better example, 'typical Taiwanese or Hong Kong stars'. I always respond to the suggestions of my friends with a smile, and then ignore it.

Somehow one day, I decided to try. I said to myself : Okay, let's not cut hair for 3 months, see how I will look like with longer hair.

Time flew past... (Zzz why am I saying this? Okay, that was random, nvm...)

Back to the topic, 3 months gone past, and I had the longest hair that I've ever had since I got memory. To many, even 'the longest hair I ever had' is still considered short to them. Lolz.

Anyway, I don't really feel comfortable with it as my hair is so thick, and oily. I knew this long time ago. I had oily hair. It ain't feel good.

So today, I decided to have a haircut. Poof!!! Now my hair is short again, and spiky. And most importantly, I felt fresh and cool. The cool I mean here is not that cool with the meaning of looking good (although I know I do... xD), the cool I mean here is like there's no more heat trapped inside my hair, like the wind can blow inside my hair and reach the skin of my head. Lolz. Okay, once again I sound weird. But I really do feel cooler with short hairstyle. When my hair is long, I always look and feel sweaty because it seems like there's a layer of hot air trapped on my head and can't escape. ARGH!!! -_-"

Now, I am gonna stick to my short hair, it's my style. Now who says people can't look good in short hair? Look at Justin Timberlake... (He is almost near-botak all the time)

Nightmare

I had a nightmare. Simple as that. A bad dream. A scary one. I can't elaborate a lot here coz I tend to forget my dreams when I wake up. I can't recall the full story. But I was in a mansion. A haunted one. With corpse. With ghosts. I nearly died. Haven't had such dremas for a long time. People say dreams are reflections of what you think during the day. What does this means to me?

Damn those 'highlighters'

The 'highlighter' I mean here is those drivers who shoot highlight at me when I'm driving.

And yeah! I'm damn-ing those people!

Few days back on Monday, when I'm driving my dad's car somewhere at Subang, a jeep highlighted me from behind, asking me to give way or go faster. And no, it's not on a highway, if it's on a highway, I will without a doubt give way because I'm usually slower than most cars on the fast lane, but this happens along a 2-lane town road. I was on the right lane, and there's a car going just a lil bit slower than me on my left. Then appear this jeep, or van, or whatsoever, highlighting me. I was at around 70, on a town road, how fast can I go? Straight away I'm furious. I won't switch my lane, I won't go any faster either. I purposely do that because he 'ignited' me first. If not, according to my 'driving style', I would usually go faster and overtake the car on the left and then cut back in. Not this time... I told my dad: It's impossible that I will give way! (我哪里会要让他?)

This is not the first time such things happened to me. Around last month, some kind of guy highlighted and honk me somewhere in Klang. Once again I wanna say, if it's on highway, nevermind I give you way. But on city roads, if I don't think I'm going too slow, sorry, not in my life I will give way.

To drivers like that, I usually will say: 这些人不是赶着去生孩子,不是赶着去开房,而是赶着去死!It translates 'these people are not rushing to deliver baby, also not rushing to 'open room' (have sex), but they are rushing to die!'. Well... It sounds much more powerful in chinese anyway. xD

And people who know me well will know that when I scold people, I really scold until gao gao punya. How I scold? I don't scold them. I will never scold them. I scold their parents! The reason these people are like that, not their fault mar... It's their parents who are useless, who failed to educate them! That's my style of scolding people. I feel this is the way that would make people really angry. No matter how much you scold them, also can't make them as angry as scolding their parents once. That's my opinion. But of coz... I ain't crazy. I will not scold in front of the person. I will just scold behind the person (like scolding in my car). By doing this, I don't risk anything, at the same time I have my satisfaction too.

Well... my way of scolding sounds controversial. I don't care anyway. But here's a lesson lar, this shows that if people don't want their parents to get cursed by me until like that, don't highlight me. Lolz! But the best is, DON'T LAR HIGHLIGHT ANYONE. DRIVE SAVE LAR. Why the rush? Think of your love ones. Think of your... PARENTS. Muahahahahaha...

(Note: Show me some comments lar... On that chatbox there... ^^)

Backstreet's Back

Backstreet's back! My favourite boyband is out with a new single 'Straight Through My Heart (Soldier Down)', and their new album will also be out soon. Who says boyband only attract young girls? I'm a fan of theirs since I started listening to music.

'Tell me why... Ain't nothing but a heartache... Tell me why... Ain't nothing but a mistake' (I want it that way)

'All you people can you see can you see...' (Larger than life)

I remember those are the songs I used to mumble in my mouth along my way to school. Primary school that is! Phew... They have come a long way. Formed in 1992, they are now in their 17th year as a group, and still going strong. Now, they are more like Backstreet 'Men' already. xD

They are one of the starters of the 'Boyband Era' in the 90's. And while many other boybands had come and go, they survived (literally) till today as a group without disbanding. Well... perhaps one of the reason I like to sing their songs a lot is because their songs are typical boyband pop style, which requires much lesser vocal skills to sing compared to R n'B, Rap, and Rock. Basically, their songs just require you to get into the rhythm and you can sing along already. Nowadays, everytime I hear their songs on the radio while I'm driving alone, for sure I will sing along. Okay... I really do sing out loud when I'm driving alone. Coz no one's there to critic me if I sing badly or break my voice! (One of my secrets revealed here!) Lolz xD.

Back to the Boys, after being drifting away from their older voices in their previous 2 albums, this latest song actually brings back the feeling of their older songs. Aiks! It's hard to describe what I mean by their 'older voices'. But if you have been following their songs, I'm sure you can feel a difference in their songs in their past 2 albums compared to their previous ones before that. It's not like the Backstreet Boys of old.

However, 'Straight Through My Heart' is close to their voices in the 90's, with a lil' bit of a techno or dance element in the music, probably because RedOne produced the song. Hehe. Somehow I felt the music of this song and Enrique Iglesias's 'Taking Back My Love'(also produced by RedOne) sounds similar.

Anyway, 5 of my all-time favourite Backstreet Boys' songs remain:
I Want It That Way (1999)
Shape Of My Heart (2000)
I'll Never Break Your Heart (1996)
Drowning (2001)
Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely (1999)

Looking forward to their new album as well as their new songs... :)

916 Malaysia Day

Today, 16th September 2009, is Malaysia Day! If National Day is the day we gained indepence, then Malaysia Day is the day when Malaysia is truly formed! Where Sabah and Sarawak joined the Penninsular to form Malaysia.

Here's a bit of history:
Last year's today, Anwar Ibrahim said Pakatan will take over the country to become the government. One year on.............................................................................................................. All that talk seems nowhere to be seen. xD

Healthy Paranoia

1st of all, WOOHOO! 'Diary of Jen' is 2 months old! Yea... I started blogging exactly 2 months ago. And what a way to celebrate this by the releasing of 15Malaysia's latest video 'Healthy Paranoia'. Hehe...

This time, it features Baki Zainal (who also appeared in 'Meter') and Health Minister Dato Sri Liow Tiong Lai. In this video, Dato Sri plays himself. So not much acting was needed. But still, he seemed so natural, doesn't look like he's acting. Then we have the ever-so-funny Baki Zainal, acting as a PR officer presenting a campaign proposal, which seemed a good one at first, and then slowly turned to a hilarious one.

Warning: Mamak food may cause diarrhoea!
Warning: Vegetables may contain larvae!
Warning: Too much nasi lemak will cause you to be fat!

Imagine that!!! When I see this, I was like 'WTH???" xD
If like that ah... All the food in the country also must have warning sign lo... Who still dare to eat? lol
Then, N1H1... Speechless. A PR officer who can't even get the name right, still dare to go and present to the Health Minister. Baki is still Baki, in the end, he still can't hide his Chinese ability. Cakap Cina lagi. Haha.

Last but not least, 15Malaysia showed us that politicians can actually make good actors!
But...
There are two perceptions to this...
Those who are impressed will say: Wow! This politician can really act! Never knew that.
Those who are unimpressed will say: Cheh! Politician mar, sure know how to act lar... (You get my meaning don't cha?)
So which category are you in? >.<

Where got ghost?

Went to watch this movie at BBK Jusco yesterday with my old classmate Yeat Yee. Kinda interested because this is a Hor-medy (Horror+Comedy). I have always been a fan of horror and comedies, but this 2 genres just doesn't seem possible to be able to be combined right? Then again, Jack Neo once again showed us that nothing is impossible.

We were late for the movie. It should have started at around 2pm after those ads, but we only entered the cinema at around 2:15pm, so I missed a little of the front part.

Anyway, not gonna be a spoiler here as I know there are people who haven't watched it yet. But basically, it's made up of 3 short stories lar, as you can see from the above movie poster. Since it's rated 'U', means I don't expect it to be much scarier than previous horror movies that I've watched. Instead I'm more interested in the way the 2 genres were combined, and of course, the usual funny Hokkien dialogues in typical Jack Neo films.

1st part is called 'Roadside got ghost'. I missed the first few minutes of this part, but still managed to catch up with the story lar. Hehe. Well... I think the moral of this story is that we should not gamble (Singapore's casino will be opened by the end of the year). Hmm... Feel a bit -_-" right? The funny part about this story is basically the dialogues from that 'limpeh limpeh' (also seen in 'I Not Stupid') guy, but he's dead in the end. xD

2nd part is called 'Jungle got ghost'. And this is for me the funniest story among the three. Don't play play in jungles tau? Hati-hati nampak hantu... In certain parts its kinda scary, the way ghosts pops out and whatsoever. But despite being scary, still the dialogues and interactions between the actors are presented in a comical way.

3rd part, and for me the best story, is called 'House got ghost'. Maybe because it has a sense of familiarity. It's like a continuation of 'Money No Enough 2', with the same actors. The mother's trademark 'jia pa be?' is back to haunt them. The end is quite touching actually. It shows that a mother's love is the greatest love of all. Maybe Jack leave the best for last? Lolz.

Nice film overall. But like all horror films, and like what I say from time to time, it's the sound effect that creates the 'scaryness'. For instance, there is a scene where Mother appears at the side of Ah Ong's bed asking him where's her mickey mouse bra (LOL), thanks to the sound effect, it's scary here. But let's not forget, the exact same scene appeared in Money No Enough 2, and it isn't scary at all at that time. xD (Note: In fact, throughout the movie, more often I was frightened by the screams from the group of people sitting few rows behind me, and not the movie scene itself -.-")

Okay lar... It's a film worth watching. So go watch!!!

Hey... Isn't that Ah Keong (Jack Neo) should pay me for promoting his movie? O_o

Meter

First of all, WOW! This is my 2nd blog post in as many hours!

Like what I said in my previous post, today is a meaningful day. 09-09-09

And what a way to start this meaningful day! At 12am sharp, 'Meter' was released. Err... In case you don't know what this is about, well... It's one of the 15Malaysia short clips.

15Malaysia is one awesome project ler... Total 15 short clips, showcasing the current issues and daily lifes of typical Malaysians, acted by famous people including actors, models, and even politicians!

'Meter' is one of the clips. And so far, I say, it's the best! Firstly, the casts itself is great! Including famous and controversial politician Khairy Jamaluddin, model Amber Chia, Radio/TV host and singer Jason Lo, controversial artist Namewee, and comedian Baki Zainal.

Secondly, it was just pure funny! Khairy can actually make a very good actor! Lolz. The scene where he fights with Jason Lo, who is a Chelsea fan like me, just make me wonder: Is this really Khairy? And the way Baki suddenly pops up a Chinese sentence just make me speechless... Then the gorgeous Amber Chia? I think this no need elaboration already lar xD. And then finally, controversial Namewee meets Khairy's controversial Keris. Hmm... for this part I feel Namewee was a bit conservative. I was expecting more sparks between the two of them.

Lastly, the good ol' moral values behind this story are...

Think yourself lar!

Run for fun

Phew... just came back from a 6km run this morning. Organized by Klang Centro and New Balance, this is my first run (well, don't consider this as marathon, lol) this year.

No registration, no categories, and don't even have a running number, this run is open to all and just for fun. Haha. Oh! And of course, no prize money whatsoever. Already say no registration lor... where will have prize ler? xD

The run starts from Klang Centro, along the way going past Hokkien Association, Kong Hoe School, Bukit Kuda, a glimpse of the dirty Klang River, Connaught Bridge road, Batu Tiga road and back to where it all started.

I kept pace with my dad all the way until Bukit Kuda, which is almost half the race distance, then I started to drop off... One year plus never run any marathon ler... Stamina sure 'cha' a bit lar... Hehe.

Anyhow, I managed to run the distance with the time of 40 minutes sharp. Dad finished 2 minutes earlier. OMG! I can't believe I was exhausted after the run!!! Zzz...

But the good thing is, after the run, breakfast was provided. At 'Teh Tarik Place' inside the complex. And yeah! Typical Malaysian breakfast with Nasi Lemak and Teh Tarik. Never been there before, kinda nice place to sit down chit-chat and 'yumcha' actually. Franchised-style mamak, place nice, environment nice, food nice, price also 'nice' (compared to outside mamak lar). xD

As this run is just for fun, seems like only around 100-150 people turned up. Can be said as marathon of its smallest kind. I took part today to have an idea of what the 'real deal' would be. The 'real deal' I mean here is on 11th October, there's a run also organized by Centro. The same route, the same distance, but this time with proper registration, a racer number, and prize money (haiyo, of course I not going for it lar).

So today, I've set the bar (err... not really high). Hopefully, and quite surely, on that day, I can beat my time today!

Time to beat: 40 minutes.

Fallen out of love with the beautiful game...

Football, dubbed 'The Beautiful Game' not by me, but by everyone in this world who knows football.

It seems a long time ago that I am one of a few kids who played football in the middle of the afternoon no matter how bright and hot the sunlight is. To others (including me now), we looked like 'sohai' at that time. But looking back, that is the time when I enjoyed playing football most. I enjoyed so much that at that time, eventhough playing under such hot conditions, yet I still doesn't feel stupid. xD

Gone are those days...

Days of fully enjoying football and playing without pressure is replaced by intense and pressured matches. I don't know why. Recently, every match is like a very intense competition, that sometimes even looked like a fight to me. I saw 'monsters' on the pitch. That whenever the ball is with you, you had them tackling you without a second thought. Monsters... Some of them are really monsters!!! Seriously, I already treat some of them as monsters. The only thing they lacked is the ability to shoot fire out of their mouth. Other than that, the way they hunt you down, trying to injure you, is like nothing else but a monster. Look here, I'm not saying that you can't have sliding tackles while playing football, but what are we playing now? World Cup? Olympics? English Premier League? Spanish Premera Liga? Or Serie A Italia? NO! We are not even playing in a amateur school competition in Malaysia! So why must you play that rough? Or is it whether you don't have the brains to think that such rough tackles might injure people? Or are you just like what I said: Monsters? My health is more important, I don't wanna play with monsters and risk myself getting injured.

And because of such intense matches, as Chinese say 火药味, the pressure rises. There will be zero margin and tolerance for mistakes. Whenever you did a mistake, in your ears, words of blame from your teammates are the only words you heard. Just like today, I shot three times, none went in. But that's not what I'm frustrated with, what I'm frustrated with is after each of the three shots I took, I heard complains, I heard blames. 'Walao, you should have passed the ball!', 'Damn, you think you can score from there?', 'WTF are you doing? How can you shoot from there?', 'Can't you cross a better ball?'... And the faces I see, all are blaming expressions.

I wasn't angry, I was just frustrated...

I had enough, when football has become such a rough game, and the pressure to play well is such high, I think it's time to take a break. I don't wanna have any conflicts with my teammates and my opponents as well. I know that if I continue playing under such conditions and pressure, it's not gonna be a matter of whether I will run riot, but when I'm gonna run riot.

It shouldn't be this way, it just shouldn't be this way.

When I missed a shot, what I wanna hear is 'Good try!', not 'Walao... what are you doing?'

When I did not pass the ball well, what I wanna hear is 'Try to pass this way...', not 'Can't you see that I'm here, why did you pass there?'

When I scored a goal, what I wanna see is clapping hands, not faces with expressions that read 'Oh! That is what you should have managed! (理所当然) Nothing to celebrate then...'

But I blame nobody, there's nobody to blame. Its just that the nature of this game has changed. Playing under such intense pressure just make people crack out those demoralising words. I admit that even I myself might say those things to my teammates (even teammates who are my good friends) when they do not play well. But what I wanna say is, it just shouldn't be this way...

I think its fair to say because of these, I've fallen out of love with football. I'm sick of playing with pressure. The football that I wanna play is zero pressure, 100% recreational football. I wanna play football that is win or lose, life goes on... I don't want to play football where you lose and there's like no tomorrow.

Today, I tried to show what I feel. When I had a mistake, I was blamed, but I said loudly 'Nevermind lar! (又不用紧啦)'. I know at that moment nobody is gonna catch what I actually mean. But what I really wanna say is: Why scold me? It's just another mistake. Life goes on right? It's not the end of the world! Why so pressure?

I've said that I wanna take a break from playing football. And hell yeah I seriously mean it! I don't know for how long. A week? A fortnight? A month? A year? I don't have a single clue now. But football is in my blood. I love sports, and football IS my favourite sport. 1 thing is for sure: I will be back!

Selamat Hari Merdeka!

Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!

52 years ago, the 'Union Jack' came down, and the flag that would now be known as 'Jalur Gemilang' went up.

Yes! Malaysia is 52 years old! Err... still very young lar... Where got old?! xD

But hor... although still young but got some 'health' problems already ler. Like Teoh Beng Hock case, Port Klang Free Zone case, Istana Toyo, MCA conflicts, plus never-ending haze and H1N1...

Must start to take care a bit ler... When 'sick', must eat 'medicine'. When not 'sick', also must eat some 'vitamins' wan ler...

52 years... Malaysia has gone through high and low, but who doesn't? The only best thing to do is to learn from mistakes, then grow and mature! ^^

Malaysia Boleh! 1Malaysia boleh!

Once again, Selamat Hari Merdeka!

My favourite player leaves my favourite club

When I started this blog, I told myself not to make this blog look like a football blog. So, I've not posted anything about my favourite game so far. But today, that 'record' will be broken. All but because my favourite player will leave my favourite club. That's right, while I'm surfing the net just now, I saw the news that Andrei Shevchenko (my favourite player) will leave Chelsea (my favourite club) within the next few days. Although expected, but still I'm devastated.

Sheva (short form for Shevchenko) wanted first team football regularly, however Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti cannot guarantee that, so Sheva was told that he can now leave the club and seek for another new club.

Okay... A bit of a history here. Sheva is one of my favourite players ever since the day I started watching football. During his time at AC Milan, he was famous for his speed and dribbling skills. He proved that he is one of the most leathal strikers in Europe, let alone Italy, during that period. Sheva truly became a Milan legend for the number of goals he scored for them. In 2003, Roman Abramovich bought Chelsea Football Club and began his persuit of Sheva. AC Milan hung on the Sheva for 3 years by keep refusing Chelsea's offers to buy the player. Reason? Because Sheva is just too important for AC Milan. From here, it can clearly be seen how good Sheva is. Somehow in 2006, Roman got his dream come true, or more importantly, I got my dream come true too! Sheva became a Chelsea player, during which he also became the most expensive player in the English Premiership at that time. I was so excited at the prospect of seeing Sheva play for my favourite club. Expectations were high, especially due to his expensive transfer fee and high wages. He made his debut against Liverpool and scored! But Chelsea will then go on to lose the game 1-2. After that, Sheva began to fade away. The then Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho even altered his formations to accommodate Sheva better in the team. However, Sheva failed to settle in the team and his performances were nowhere near his peak. A dull second season then followed. And after scoring Chelsea's final goal of the 2007/08 season, he was loaned back to his old club, AC MIlan. There, he again failed to recapture his form. Eventually this season he returned to Chelsea, but not for long. Although Ancelotti followed him from AC Milan to Chelsea, but even he cannot guarantee that he would use Sheva regularly. Sadly, Sheva opted to leave.

Sheva's leaving actually follows a list of patterns. Firstly, Ukraine (Sheva's country) strikers always seem to be unable to succeed in the Premiership. Sergei Rebrov formed a leathal partnership with Sheva when both of them are at Dynamo Kiev, but failed dismally during his Premiership stint. Then we got Andriy Voronin (although still a Premierhsip player now), who is Sheva's striker partner in Ukraine national team, deemed surplus to requirements in Liverpool.

Secondly, Sheva also follows a long list of failed Chelsea strikers over the past few years (damn I hate to say this, it just shows that many have failed at Chelsea). From Adrian Mutu, to Hernan Crespo. From Mateja Kezman, to Claudio Pizarro. Hmm... maybe Chelsea just have tendency to fail previously successful strikers? xD

Anyway, based on the strikers that Chelsea have right now, including 2 golden boot winners Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka, it might really be best for Sheva personally to leave the club.

Overall in 2 full seasons at Chelsea, Sheva scored 22 goals. But perhaps his best contribution to the club would be the unleashing of his strike partner Drogba. Remarkably, Drogba's best 2 seasons for Chelsea so far are actually during the 2 seasons Sheva is in the club!

All the best in whichever club you join! Sheva ^^
